Lipari

It is worth taking a nice tour of the island to enjoy the beautiful views. Lipari can be toured on a scooter, or bicycle. It is huge (it measures 40km in circumference). To enjoy the best view of the archipelago, you can climb Mount Chirica (660 m). There are several places on the island: Lipari Centro and Piano Conte.


What you must know:

Old Church Quattropani. You can enjoy an incredible panorama from this location, with all the islands except Vulcano.

Sunset, colours, smells, and stillness are the best moments.

For those who prefer to be on their own for a while, the baths at San Calogero, Acquacalda and Canneto are ideal.

The Castle in Lipari will surprise you with an unexpected visit. Here you’ll find the headquarters for the Bernabo Brea Museum and the archaeological park.

A collection of amphoraes and Greek theatre masks from the past thousand years, as well as other underwater finds, are evidence of the glory and culture that was the Greek world of the Aeolian Islands.

Two natural inlets serve as a point of reference: Marina Lunga and Marina Corta. You will find the old town a charming escape with its many cafes and shops nestled between narrow streets and steep slopes that offer delicious delicacies and live music late at night. The hot donuts with ricotta Cheese are a must-try! This makes for a lively stroll that leads to Marina Corta. Here you will find the dock of fishing vessels, a small fishing village, with a square and fishermen’s colorful boats. These are great places to enjoy a delicious Mulberry Granita with cream, brioche. The atmosphere is magical with the glow of the evening lights.

Walking tours

Mount Guardia and Mount S. Angelo, Cappero Semaforo, Pirrera-Forgia Vecchia are the places you will find one of the island’s extinguished volcanic cones.

Landing spots

Lipari can be connected to Milazzo (summer), Messina (summer), Palermo(summer) or Naples. Marina Corta is for small boats, Marina Lunga is for ships and ferry. Pignataro also has a docking station for leisure and fishing boats.
