Twice a year during the February and September, Milan Fashion Week (MFW) puts fashion in the spotlight and celebrates it in the heart of Milan with fashion lovers, buyers and media. Milan Fashion Week, founded in 1958, is a part of the global “Big Four fashion weeks”, the others being in Paris, London and New York.
MFW is partially organized by the National Chamber for Italian Fashion. It is a non-profit organization which is co-ordinates, disciplines and promotes the development of Italian fashion. This organization is responsible for hosting the fashion events and shows of Milan.
Milan Fashion Week presents around seventies fashion shows and nineties presentations of designers to an international audience, through hosting catwalk shows, designer showrooms and static presentations. In the span of each MFW, an estimated 15 million Euro is generated for hotels and businesses in Milan. Additional to its womenswear shows, Milan also hosts events such as Milan Fashion Week Men’s in January and June, which are dedicated to menswear but considerably smaller in size and reach.
