Where to find Italy’s best outlet malls

If you have Italian designers in your head but don’t want to spend more on your handbag than on your flight, then there is an answer: Italy’s outlet malls.

There are many outlet shopping centers scattered across Italy. Many of them are located outside major cities such as Florence, Milan, and Rome. These malls can be quite difficult to reach, making them not the most efficient way to spend your time. You can’t shop unless you have to! Once you have satisfied your shopping urge, Florence, Milan, or Rome offer many other activities. Florence


The Mall

Mon. – Sun. – Sun. 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Mall will remain open during the months of June and July from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Located at Europa 8, Leccio-Reggello.

It’s got: Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Dior, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fendi, Armani, Gucci, Pucci, Ferragamo, Valentino, and more.

To reach Florence by car (30 minutes), follow the A1 motorway towards Rome. Take the exit marked Incisa. Continue straight until Leccio. After passing through the center, the Mall will be on your left. Train: 35 minutes + 5 minutes taxi. Take the Santa Maria Novella train to Rignano sull’Arno. Then, grab a taxi. Public bus: Take the Florence SITA bus, Via Santa Caterina da Siena 17 near the train station. Buses depart at 8:30, 9, 11, and 12:35 Mon-Sat. 3:00 PM Mon-Sun. Space Factory Outlets (Prada).

Mon.-Fri. 10:30am – 7:30pm, Sat. Sun. 9:30am-7:30pm and Sun. 10:30am-6:30pm. Located at Via Levanella Becorpi, Localita Levanella, S.S 69, Montevarchi.

It’s got The Prada line stores–Prada and Miu Miu. Helmut Lang. Prada Sport.

To reach Florence by car (50 minutes): Take the A1 motorway towards Rome, and take exit Valdarno. Follow the 1A until Via Poggilupi/SP11; then a right turn to Strada Lungo l’Arno/SP59, and then a left turn to Strada d/Arno/SR69. Turn left onto Via Levanella Becorpi. Take the train to Santa Maria Novella, Campo di Marte or Montevarchi (35 or 55 minutes + 5 minutes taxi). Then grab a taxi.

Fendi

Mon. Mon. 10 a.m.- 7:30 pm. Sun. From 11 a.m. – 7:30 pm. Located at Via Pian dell’Isola 66/33, Rignano sull’Arno, Reggello.

You got it:Everything Fendi.

To reach Florence by car (35 minutes), take the A1 towards Rome and get off at Incisa. Then, take a left toward Pian dell’Isola. Train (25-35 minutes + 10 min walk): Take the train from Campo di Marte, Santa Maria Novella and then walk or take a taxi to the outlet.

Dolce & Gabbana

Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sun. From 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Located at Via S. Maddalena 49, Pian dell’Isola Rignano sull’Arno.

There’s more: D&G has two floors of shoes and clothing. This includes past collections, samples, and second-line stocks.

To get to Florence by car (30 minutes), take A1 south towards Rome and get off at Incisa exist. Follow the SS 69 to your right. Follow the signs to the outlet. Train (30 to 40 minutes + 5 minutes taxi): Take the train from Santa Maria Novella, Campo di Marte or Incisa and then get a taxi.

Milan

Shopping after your day in Milan’s trendy Brera district? Isn’t enough? Then you should try the nearby outlet malls.

Serravalle Designer Outlet

Every day, open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Located at Via della Moda 1, Serravalle Scrivia.

There are180 stores including Versace and Dolce & Gabbana as well as Calvin Klein and Trussardi.

To get there from Milan: By car (1 hour), take the A7 toward Genova/Bologna/Venezia and take exit Serravalle Scrivia. Train: Take the train from Milano Centrale towards Arquata Scrivia in 20 minutes + 10 minutes taxi. Then, take a taxi to the outlet. Take the shuttle bus with Zani Viaggi from Milano Foro Bonaparte at 10 AM. It costs 20 euros. Call 02 867 131.

FoxTown Factory Store

Every day, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Via A. Maspali 18 Mendrisio (Switzerland).

There are160 stores including Armani and Dior, Dolce & Gabbana as well as Gucci, and Hugo Boss. Prada, Valentino, Versace and La Perla.

You can get there by train from Milan. However, you will need to purchase a permit each year once you cross into Switzerland. Take the train (1 hour) from Milano Porta Garibaldi, Switzerland to Chiasso. Then, take a shuttle bus (or taxi) to the outlet (10 minutes). Take the Zani Viaggi bus to central Milan (20 euros return) (call 02 867 131).

Il Salvagente

Mon. to Mon., 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Sunday hours are 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Via Fratelli Bronzetti 16 Milan central.

You’ll find Selections from many designers in one place, including Armani, Balenciaga, Burberry, Cavalli, and Chloe.

Get there by public bus 60 or 62 from the Bronzetti Archimede stop or bus number 92 from the Piceno station.

Armani

Open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and 3 p.m.- 7 p.m. Sundays closed. Located at Via Provinciale per Bregnano, 12, Vertemate con Minoprio.

To reach Milan from Milan: By car (40 minutes), take the A9 towards Lake Como, exit Fino Mornasco, for the SP27. Turn right onto the SS35 and exit 1A to Via Provinicale Per Bregnano. Take the train to Milano Nord Cadona station and then take a taxi to the outlet. It takes 40 minutes.

Rome

Castel Romano Designer Outlet

Mon. – Thurs. – Thurs. 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Located at Via Ponte di Piscina Cupa, 64, Castel Romano.

It has 140 stores, including Valentino and Roberto Cavalli, Furla and Patrizia Pepe.

To reach Rome by car (20 minutes), take the SS 148 South towards Pomezia, and then take the Castel Romano exit. Shuttle bus: Take the bus from Via Marsala, just outside Termini station at 10am, 12pm or 3pm for 13 euros round trip. It takes 40 minutes. Pick-up service (29 euros return): You can be picked up at your hotel in 30 minutes by calling 3490836551 on the day prior to your trip.

Valmontone Outlet

Every day, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 10am-9pm on weekends. Located at Via della Pace, Pascolaro, Valmontone.

It’s got More High Street than designer shops, including Calvin Klein and Intimissimi Clarks, Ethic Sisley, Sisley, Sisley, Sisley, Sisley, Sisley, Baldinini.

To reach Rome by car (45 minutes), take the A1 towards Napoli, then the E45 toward San Cesareo, and exit at Valmontone. Take the shuttle (5 euros return) from Terracafe, Via Marsala 29, Termini. It takes 50 minutes.
