1. Pasta alla Carbonara
Who would have thought that the best Italian pasta dish is the one that uses no more than five simple ingredients, which most people have at home. We do in Italy, at least. Pasta alla Carbonara was created in Rome during World War II. Carbonara is the best dish you can try in Roman restaurants.
During the war, the Fascism was ruling and the Italians lived in poverty. Although eggs and guanciale, or pancetta, were more easily available on the market than the cheeses parmesane and pecorino, these were rarer to find on black markets. Carbonara is a traditional dish made from eggs, guanciale or pancetta = bacon, pecorino cheese and spaghetti with peppers and some parmesan. Carbonara is a very inexpensive dish but it’s definitely one of the most popular traditional Italian pasta dishes.
2. Pasta with Pesto
Pasta al pesto is one of the most popular and delicious Italian pasta dishes. This is a very quick recipe. Even if you make your pesto at home you can still make it in a matter of minutes.
Pasta with pesto is a favorite, healthy, and easy Italian dish . Pesto is made from two types of matured cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano (or Pecorino Romano), fresh basil, oil, pine nuts and garlic. This pesto is a great choice for light meals or lunch.
3. Pasta all’Arrabbiata
Pasta all’Arrabbiata, a favorite authentic Italian pasta dish that hails from Rome, is my personal favorite. It’s named after the Italian word Arrabbiata, which means “angry”. The sauce contains spicy pepper. The name and dish are both my favorite.
Pasta all’Arrabbiata, one of the most popular Italian pasta dishes is very popular across the country. This dish is more popular in Rome, where it’s most common, and less in other areas.
This quick and simple dish features spicy peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and parsley. This is the perfect dish for spicy food lovers! This authentic dish can be enjoyed in Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood.
4. Gnocchi ai Quattro Formaggi
The Gnocchi Ai Quattro Formataggi is my favorite dish from the amazing Italian pasta recipes. Although it’s not a pasta dish since the gnocchi are made from potatoes, it’s still a great choice.
Although it wouldn’t be considered a classic Italian pasta dish, it is one of my favorite dishes! This is an excellent alternative to traditional Italian pasta dishes for those who like cheese. Gnocchi ai Quattro Formaggi uses Grgonzola and Fontina.
It’s a delicious, creamy, and cheesy dish that everyone loves. This recipe is also available. You may also find other options to the four cheese-gnocchi like gnocchi with nuts and gorgonzola.
5. Pappardelle ai Funghi Porcini
Pappardelle al Funghi Porcini, made with fresh Porcini mushrooms, is one of my favorite seasonal dishes. This is a great Italian pasta dish and is also quick to prepare.
This is a fantastic choice if you are looking for classic Italian pasta dishes that include Porcini mushrooms. Risotto stuffed with Porcini mushrooms is delicious and a must-have in Tuscany. However, the pasta version is equally good! You can substitute Porcini mushrooms for the Porcini, or you can use other types of mushrooms. For a dish such as this, you will need garlic, mushrooms and cooked ham. Butter is also needed.
6. Tagliatelle al Ragu
Tagliatelle al Ragu is simply the best! You know the ragu as Bolognese sauce. It’s also known as ragu in Italy. Since it’s not made in Bologna it isn’t included in the Italian list of pasta dishes.
Tagliatelle (or any other pasta) al Ragu in Florence might be a good choice. They’d call it Ragu Toscano or Ragu Fiorentino. It’s made in the same manner all over Italy and can be used for many other dishes.
It is used in Lasagne and Arancini. Pasta al Ragu is a must-try Italian dish! It is one of the most well-known Italian pasta dishes. We have inherited the ragu and other traditional Italian noodles.
7. Cappellacci di Zucca al Ragu
Cappellacci di Zucca Al Ragu is a traditional Italian pasta dish from Ferrara Italy. This pasta is similar to tortellini but is larger in size. This is why I included it in my list of top Italian pasta recipes. I have never had a pumpkin dish that tastes better.
Cappellacci are made from pumpkins and served with the ragu (made with minced meats and tomatoes). Sprinkle some Parmigiano Reggiano over the top to make it even more delicious! This is a dish you should try when you visit Ferrara.
8. Bucatini all’Amatriciana
Bucatini allamatriciana is a bit like the other Italian pasta dish, the pasta all Arrabbiata. This classic Italian pasta dish is easy to prepare and spicy! The Amatriciana can be seen in the above photo with Spaghetti. However, Bucatini is preferred for this dish.
Bucatini look like spaghetti but are thicker. This authentic Italian pasta dish takes very little time. It’s also very simple to prepare because the ingredients are so few. Bucatini allamatriciana requires tomatoes, parsley and white wine. In some cases, they also add olives. This is a great choice for spicy food lovers as it contains spicy peppers!
9. Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe
It would be unfair if I didn’t mention the Gnocchi ai Quattro Formaggi. This is not pasta and it doesn’t include Cacio e Pepe. If you are looking for Italian pasta dishes, Cacio e Pepe is a must-see, especially in Rome.
Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, one of the most delicious and unique Italian pasta recipes, is a must-try. It is easy to make and only three ingredients are required. To make Cacio e Pepe you need black pepper, pasta, and Pecorino Romano cheese. You can also add Parmigiano Reggiano to the dish. This is a simple, but difficult dish to prepare. This amazing recipe will be a hit with cheese lovers!
10. Spaghetti alle Vongole
Spaghetti alle Vongole was my last choice, as I don’t like seafood. Spaghetti alle Vongole, however, is a very popular Italian pasta dish. It is best to eat Spaghetti and Clams on the Italian coast. You’ll find great spaghetti alle Vongole in restaurants in Venice or Sorrento or Naples.
Cities and coastal towns have fresh ingredients and fresh clams. They are more skilled in seafood dishes than you would be if you ordered Spaghetti al Vongole from Milan or Turin. This dish is a must-try if you love authentic Italian pasta and seafood.
